MONETT — Aurora No. 1 singles player Evelyne Maassen continued her torrid play on the court, but outside her contributions in both singles and doubles, it was slim pickings for the Lady Houns during their dual Monday against Big 8 Conference rival Monett at the Monett North Park.

Maassen rolled to a 8-0 victory over Monett’s best singles player Stacy Hurtado and she paired with Megan Gearhart in No. 1 doubles to defeat Hurtado and Melanie Salas 8-3.

Otherwise, it was all Lady Cubs in the dual, resulting in a 7-2 defeat for the Lady Houns.

No. 2 singles Lauren Sapiens lost 8-3 to Salas, No. 3 Gearhart lost 8-5 to Sofia Semerad, No. 4 Olivia Ray lost 8-4 to Meagan Hull, No. 5 Emily Gearhart lost 8-2 to Sydney Paragon, and No. 6 Lilly Sumners lost 9-8 (7-1 tiebreaker) to Katherine Smith.

No. 2 doubles Sapiens-Ray lost 8-4 to Semerad-Hull and No. 3 Emily Gearhart-Sumners lost 8-4 to Parrigon-Smith.

Aurora dropped to 1-7 overall entering a dual Thursday on the road against Thomas Jefferson and the Lady Houns travel to Nixa for tournament play Friday.
