It was an all-around successful night for the Verona varsity basketball teams on Tuesday night, as the Wildcats and Lady 'Cats swept College Heights Christian for important conference wins.

The Lady Wildcats got things started with a 55-50 victory to improve their record to 13-6 overall on the season.

The boys followed up with a 70-61 win to move to 16-4 on the season and 2-0 in Ozark 7 Conference play.

Caleb Hillhouse and Kolton Pinkly led the boys' offense with 23 and 21 points, respectively. Eddie Gutierrez also finished in double digits with 14 points, while Jaiden Carrasquillo scored seven and Anthony Martinez contributed five.

Prior to Tuesday's victory, the Wildcats advanced to the championship game of last week's Spokane Invitational after a first round win and a nail-biting victory in the semifinals.

Coach Brad Stewart's team pulled off the 57-56 win over Cassville on Thursday to move on to Friday's tournament final. There, the Wildcats faced the host team, eventually falling to the Owls 67-49.

The boys will be back in action on February 1, an away contest at New Covenant Academy.

For the girls, play will continue on Tuesday with a trip to Hurley, followed by a road game at Crane next Thursday.
