The Aurora and Marionville football teams both fell in week six conference action last Friday and will look to pick up wins this week as district seeding begins to fall into place.

The Houn' Dawgs traveled to Springfield to face the one-loss Catholic Fighting Irish, falling 42-7. Aurora's only score came on a third quarter 35-yard touchdown pass to Kaden Clark, whose 45 yards receiving were the team-high on the night.

Clark also led the defense with 15 total tackles, including six solos. Colson Husmann and Peyton Weathermon followed in double digits with 13 and 12 total tackles each.

The Houn' Dawgs, now 2-4 on the season, will play host to Hollister on Friday, a team with an identical record. The homecoming game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Kelley Field.

In Marionville, the Comets were shut out 26-0 by undefeated Pierce City to drop to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Southwest Conference.

Quarterback Wyatt Kuhs threw for 80 yards on 10 completions, three of which found Matthew Bowling for a team-high 37 yards. Marionville's usually sound running game was stalled against the Eagles, recording just 44 yards total, including 23 by Jeremy Vickers on 17 carries.

James Tucker and Evan Dotson led the defense with nine total tackles each, followed by Dodge Schapeler with eight.

Marionville will play its final home game of the season on Friday against Sarcoxie. Look for results for both teams in next week's sports section.
