The Marionville Comets rolled to a 58-0 win over Southwest Conference foe Pleasant Hope in last Friday's football season opener.

Four different Comets scored touchdowns in the shutout win, including junior Jeremy Vickers, who found the end zone three times on nine carries for 115 yards. Freshman Dakota Wilson scored twice on four carries, and junior Wyatt Kuhs recorded on TD on four carries, as well. The Comets scored one pass touchdown, from Kuhs to senior Matthew Bowling, who led receivers with three catches for 80 yards. Kuhs was 7-11 passing for 209 yards on the night.

Defensively, seniors Adrian Johnson and James Tucker led the Comets with six and five tackles, respectively. Wilson and fellow freshman Koy Dittmar each added four tackles. Vickers came up with three interceptions and one fumble recovery to give the Comets extra chances to score. Freshman Jacksen Smith also recorded an interception, and senior Wil Ghan picked up another fumble.

After the dominant Week 1 performance, the Comets will continue play on the road this week with a matchup against Willow Springs.
