Lorrain Kate Birchfield, age 94, of Aurora, Missouri, passed from this life on Thursday morning, May 9, 2019, while at the Aurora Nursing Center in Aurora.
Lorrain was born on December 3, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Fredrick Louis Kistinger and Minnie Theresa (Kloss) Kistinger. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Aurora, and had volunteered her time and service through the Hudson House serving Meals on Wheels for over forty years. She was also a member of the American Brittany Club and the Aurora Rockin’ A Saddle Club.
On May 29, 1943 in Chicago, Lorrain Kate Kistinger and Douglas Eugene Birchfield were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2010. Lorrain was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas Eugene “Sandy” Birchfield, Jr.; one daughter, Darlene Ellen Compton; one grandson, Will Birchfield; and one daughter-in-law, Becky Birchfield.
Lorrain is survived by two sons, Daniel J. Birchfield and David Jene Birchfield, both of Aurora; one son-in-law, Robert Compton, of Chicago; one daughter-in-law, Kathie Birchfield, of Bowling Brook, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Ronda, Jenny, Tammy, Rusty, Tracy, Will and Katie; and twelve great-grandchildren, Tara, Lexie, Nick, Max, Connor, John, Samuel, Henry, Tyler, Caty, Darlene and Luke; and three great-great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Bryan and Dominic.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Missouri.
