Allen Thomas Mullen passed away just before dawn on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at his residence, Ivy Springs Manor Assisted Living in Buford, Georgia. He was born in Lawrence County, Missouri in 1941 to Harold and Margaret Mullen. He was married to his beautiful wife, Delphine Marie Mullen, for more than 55 years.
Allen called Aurora home for nearly 50 years, where he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He held many jobs throughout his life, including serving our country in the United States Air Force for seven years. He also received his certificate in broadcasting in 1985. However, his main career for more than 40 years was a semi-truck driver. Allen logged more than four million miles before retiring in 2018. In May of 2018, Allen and Delphine moved to Buford, Georgia to be closer to their son and grandchildren.
Al's most admirable traits were his wit and charm. He was also an avid fisherman.
He loved his family, his coffee hot, watching sports and doing woodwork.
He is survived by his wife, Delphine Mullen of Buford; his brother, Gene Mullen of Gravette, Akansas; his sister, Rose Mullen of Norman, Oklahoma; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Ruth Mullen of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and his three adoring grandchildren, Kayla, Timothy and Madalyn Mullen of Lawrenceville.
A memorial service will be held at a future date in Aurora.
