James Walter Lawson of Aurora, Missouri passed away on August 9 in St. Louis, MO at the age of 83. Walter was known in Aurora as a businessman through his many years of co-ownership of the Coast to Coast Hardware store, followed by his employment at Mayse Automotive group.

He began his career at the Ben Franklin store while he was also a part time projectionist at the Princess Theater. He later moved to Aurora Hardware prior to his purchase of the Coast to Coast store with business partner John Conrad.

Walter loved raising and riding horses and was active in the Rocking A Saddle Club and was a regular participant in trail rides in Eminence, MO. He also was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served stints as a deacon, usher and treasurer.

Walter is survived by his wife Martha Lou Lawson, and their son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Ginny Lawson of St. Louis, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Walter will also be sadly missed by his two sisters, Mary Dean Lunsford (Dalton) and Pam Brown (James), both of Marionville, MO.

An open visitation was held at First Baptist Church, Aurora on Tuesday, August 14. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the Rocking A Saddle Club, or to First Baptist Church, Aurora.
