John “Jarrett” Venable was born on February 4, 1944, in Peru LaSalle, Illinois to Ralph and Grace (Ludwig) Venable. He departed this life on July 27, 2018, in his home at the age of 74. Jarrett attended Aurora Schools all 12 years graduating in 1962. He attended the University of Arkansas and upon leaving college pursued a career in sales. He sold appliances for the Whirlpool Corporation and Hot Point Corporation to building contractors in the Kansas City area. In 1969 he moved to Anadarko Oklahoma becoming an entrepreneur owning a Sears catalog mail order store. He and his family moved back to Aurora in 1975 where he owned the OTASCO store for several years. He began his career in the insurance industry in 1983 and remained active in his business Venable Insurance Group until recently transferring the business to his wife.

He served on Aurora Planning and Zoning Commission as well as the Aurora Community Hospital Board.

On May 27, 2001, Jarrett married Ranea Fullerton in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Lance (Lahni) Venable of North Richland Hills Texas, John (Heidi) Venable of Houston, Alaska, and Leann Sandoval (Joe Radon) of Aurora; four grandchildren, Kalib and Abbie Venable, Brookelynn and Hannah Sandoval and two step grandchildren, Wade and Jordan Stalker and one sister, Kay V. Peitz of Mountain Home Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Grace Venable.

Visitation was held at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri, on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Clif Crockett officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.
