Sarah Catherine Smith (95), of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Marionville and Aurora MO, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 26, 2020 while receiving care at Presbyterian Hospital and Harris Hospice in Charlotte, NC

Catherine, the daughter of James Columbus and Mabel Simpkins Jones, was born in McKinley, Mo on January 17, 1925. She graduated from Marionville High School in 1941. On December 26, 1942, Catherine and Joe Carl Smith were united marriage and shared over 77 years together. She was a lifelong member of Buck Prairie Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She used her musical gifts as the pianist and organist for the church in later years. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and crochet.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Opal Jones Greene.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Joe, and her only son Kenny Dean Smith and wife Jeanne. She will be remembered by her granddaughters, Terri Wright (Chris), Kristi Pelletier (David) and Penni Gryder (Brian) for her unconditional love, countless retellings of “Three Little Pigs “and endless games of dominoes. Her surviving four great-grandchildren, Ethan Wright, Bennett Wright, Harlin Puckett and Enly Wright had the privilege of knowing her and creating their own memories with her. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and countless friends as she was loved by everyone who knew her.
