On January 21, 2020, The Barry Lawrence County Developmental Center received a $1000 check from the Verona Knights of Columbus Council #2265.
The check represented half of the net proceeds from the recent Council Drive for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, commonly known as the annual Tootsie Roll Drive.
Grand Knight, Mark Conn stated that he was really proud of the community response of the recent fundraising drive and was honored and happy to present the money to the Center.
The Developmental Center has been providing early intervention services and therapy to children with developmental disabilities since 1973. Currently the Center has 28 children enrolled in it's various programs. The Center is located in an old family residence and has out grown the current facility.
Director, Lynda Painter thanked the Knights of Columbus for the generous donation and stated that the donation will go into the Capital Campaign for the new building that is planned in Monett. The new building will allow the center to provide services for up to 50 children on a weekly basis.
