On Monday, both the Aurora Junior High and the Alternative school were on lockdown due to a shooting in the neighborhood. According to reports from The Aurora Marionville Police Department, a shooting occurred in the 300 block of West Locust.

Once officers arrived on the scene, the alleged shooter, a 31-year old Aurora man, was arrested and is currently in custody at the Aurora jail pending formal charges. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

The victim, a 30-year man, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At press time, names of the alleged shooter and the victim had not been released.

The lockdown for the schools was lifted once officers determined there was no threat.

At that time, school officials were given an all clear to resume normal operations.
