Gamma Gamma Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi closed out the sorority year with their annual Founder’s Day celebration. They met for dinner at Alice Irene’s restaurant in Marionville and were pleased to be joined by five members of the sorority from Shell Knob.

President Jane Baker announced that Linda Tinker was named as our Woman of the Year for the second year in a row. She received a crown and yellow roses, and she is most deserving of the honor for all she does for our chapter. The new theme for the coming year will be “A Quilt of Friendship.”

At our May meeting, new officers were installed; those who graciously accepted were:

President -- Jean Smith VP -- Carolyn Pilkerton Recording Secretary -- Judy Kitchen Corresponding Secretary -- Linda Tinker Treasurer -- Marilyn Carey Extension officer -- Jane Baker

Awards were given to our Valentine Queen Ruth Linneman, our Woman of the Year Linda Tinker, best program of the year winner Suzanne Mixsell (for her tour and history of her beautifully decorated Victorian home) and Jane Baker and Judy Kitchen for perfect attendance. Our annual scholarship was announced; this year it goes to Emily Moore, who is planning to go to Missouri State at West Plains, where she will be majoring in Business Management and playing volleyball.

Plans are underway for the coming year. We’re looking forward to some of our annual activities like potluck suppers, ice cream social, hayride shows and concerts, card parties, lunches and holiday celebrations.

We certainly appreciate your contributions for our fund raisers and hope you will continue your support this year. Our gifts this past year were our Memorial Scholarship, Aurora UMC/facility use, Senior Citizen adoptee, Emergency Disaster donation to a sister injured in the Las Vegas shooting, Friends of the Library, Beta Sigma Phi Endowment Fund, Relay for Life, Convoy of Hope, Christian Service Center and Pate School Nurse Fund.

We are looking forward to another fun and rewarding year.
