During the month of April, the Aurora/Marionville Police Department received nine reports of counterfeit currency being passed at businesses in Aurora and Marionville. Currency denominations of $20 and $100 were involved.
Officers identified four suspects and received information that additional counterfeit currency was likely at a residence in Aurora (where one of the suspects had been staying). Officers were granted a search warrant for that residence (in the 600 block of East Highland) and served the search warrant on May 1.
Twenty fake $100 bills were seized, along with controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and one firearm. The case is currently being reviewed to determined if charges will be filed by state or federal authorities.
