Lady Comets win over Pleasant Hope, lose to Stockton

The Marionville Lady Comets added a win and a loss to their season record, as well as their MidLakes Conference record after winning over Pleasant Hope and losing to Stockton.
Pleasant Hope
The two teams were tightly matched in the first half as Pleasant Hope led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter.
Jaycie Dishman added three points on a jumper and a free throw to put Marionville up by two. She later tied the score at 17, while Aubree Brown pushed the score to 20-17 with a three-pointer.
Pleasant Hope regained the lead at the end of the half with the score set at 23-21.
In the third quarter, Marionville tied the score at 23 with Josie Young scoring. Amy Hicks gave Marionville a one-point advantage and tied the score at 28 midway through the quarter.
Whitney Wright pulled the Lady Comets within one with two successful free throws before the end of the third quarter, allowing Pleasant Hope to again lead at the close of a quarter. The score was set at
32-33.
In the fourth quarter, Hicks put Marionville up by two, while Young added a three-pointer in order for the Lady Comets not relenquish the lead again.
Pleasant Hope held on through most of the quarter.
Dishman put Marionville up by five with a three-pointer.
Pleasant Hope attempted to stop the clock with less than a minute left in the game, but Dishman and Young were successful on the free-throw line.
Marionville won
57-52.
Stockton
Marionville hosted the Stockton Lady Tigers on January 30.
The two teams were tied at 16 at the close of the first quarter, and Stockton gained a slight lead in the second quarter, outscoring Marionville 17-12. The score at the half was 28-33.
Stockton had a big third quarter, limiting Marionville to five points while the Lady Tigers posted 16 points.
In the fourth quarter, Stockton again outscored Marionville 16-14, giving the Lady Tigers the 65-47 win.
