The Aurora Houn’ Dawgs and Lady Houns will head into district play on February 22 and 23 with the hopes to move on to sectionals the following week.
Aurora will travel to Republic for the Class 4, District 11 Tournament February 22-26. The tournament will be at the new high school at 4370 South RepMo Drive in Republic.
Lady Houns
The Lady Houns, seeded fifth, will first look for a win over Monett, seeded fourth, at 6 p.m., February 22.
In the regular season match-up, Aurora narrowly lost 42-47 to the Lady Cubs.
If the girls win, they will face McDonald County, seeded first, at 6 p.m., February 24. If they lose, the Lady Houns basketball season will be over.
Other teams in the district tournament are Cassville, seeded third; Reeds Spring, seeded sixth; and Republic, seeded second.
The district championship game will begin at 7 p.m., February 26.
The District 11 champs will face the District 12 champs at 6 p.m., March 3, at at Missouri Southern State University.
Houn’ Dawgs
The Aurora Houn’ Dawgs, seeded fifth, will first face McDonald County, seeded fourth, at 6 p.m., February 23.
The Houn’ Dawgs gained their first win over McDonald County during the 2009-10 season with a score of 44-33.
If Aurora wins in the first round, the Houn’ Dawgs will face Republic, seeded first, at 6 p.m., February 25.
Other teams in the district tournament are: Reeds Spring, seeded second; Monett, seeded third; and Cassville, seeded sixth.
The championship game will begin at 2 p.m., February 27.
The District 11 champion will face the winner of District 12 in sectionals at 7:45 p.m., March 3, at MSSU.
