The Marionville Lady Comets pulled out an upset over Wheaton on February 27. Marionville, seeded ninth, defeated Wheaton, seeded eighth, 44-40 in the first round of the Class 2 District 10 Tournament.
The Lady Comets improved on rebounding on both ends of the floor in the matchup with Wheaton. Marionville narrowly trailed for most of the game, but the Lady Comets tied it up with a free throw by Brooke Nelson with about two minutes left in the game. Marionville led for the remainder of the game with Wheaton sending the Lady Comets to the free-throw line.
Marionville's win moves the Lady Comets to the next round in districts. The Lady Comets face Purdy, seeded first, at 4 p.m., March 1, at Sarcoxie. The winner of the game will go on to play at 6 p.m., March 3, at Sarcoxie.
