The fate of the Marionville came down to the final seconds of the game Friday night as the Comets trailed Osceola. After a night full of penalties, Marionville trailed by seven with 15 seconds left, but an interception gave Osceola the ball and the 21-14 win over the Comets.

The first half mostly was uneventful for both ends of the field with Marionville getting various penalties. John Zanaboni kept the Indians out of the end zone with two interceptions in the first half, but Osceola still managed to close with a 7-0 lead.

The Comets started the third quarter strong with Caleb Williams running the ball in for a 10-yard touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion. Marionville led 8-7.

Williams again scored in the fourth quarter on a third and goal play. The two-point attempt was no good, giving the Comets a 14-7 lead.

Osceola answered with another touchdown with less than 6:30 left in the game, but the field goal attempt was blocked, leaving Marionville up by one. The Indians scored again and made a successful two-point conversion for the 21-14 win.

Marionville travels to Pleasant Hope next week.
