Marionville, Mo. -

After the first round of districts comes to an end, two area teams remain in the post season -- Verona Lady Wildcats and Marionville Comets.

Marionville Comets went into the first round of the Class 2 District 10 Tournament strong for the 54-29 win over McAuley.

McAuley started the game with a slight lead, but the Comets caught up and passed the Warriors to maintain the lead for the rest of the game. Marionville passed the ball quickly against McAuley's zone defense, which allowed Marionville to score several three-pointers, mostly coming from Justin Hansen.

The first round win pushes Marionville, seeded second, into the semifinal round to face Purdy, seeded sixth, at 7:30 p.m., March 4. The winner of the game will go on to the championship game, which will begin at  7 p.m., March 6.

The Verona Lady Wildcats, seeded first in the Class 1 District 6 Tournament, gained a bye in the first round of districts. They face Chadwick, seeded fourth, tonight at 6 p.m. in the semifinal round. The winner of the game will play in the championship round, beginning at 6 p.m., March 5.
