The Aurora Lady Houns tennis team advanced to the semifinals of this week's team district play with a 5-0 win over Reeds Spring, only to fall by the same margin against Logan-Rogersville a day later.

In Monday's competition, Aurora picked up wins in the singles matches by Amber Gorman and Meagan Gearhart.

All three doubles pairs won their matches as well. Gorman and Hannah Estes won 8-6 over their Reeds Spring opponents, while Lauren Sapiens and Alexis Hoftiezer won 8-3. Gearhart and Jennifer Perez were 8-1 winners.

Tuesday's match against the Lady Wildcats was a different story, as Aurora lost both singles matches and each doubles competition.

Hoftiezer and Sarah Woodall fell 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. In doubles, the Woodall/Gorman and Sapiens/Gearhart teams each lost 8-2, while the Estes/Hoftiezer pair was shut out 8-0.

The team finished with an overall record of 7-6 on the season. Look for results from the individual competitions in next week's sports section.
