The Marionville Comets fell on the road at Willow Springs last Friday to drop to 1-1 on the season, a week ahead of their home and conference opener.

The Comets' two touchdowns on the night were scored on receptions by Jacksen Smith and Chase White, on passes by Wyatt Kuhs and Wyley Brown. Kuhs finished 10-26 for 75 yards passing on the night, while Brown was 2-2 for 15 yards.

Matthew Bowling was the leading receiver for Marionville, with five catches for 33 yards, while White's one catch went 32 yards for a TD. Smith caught three balls for 12 yards and a score, while Kyle Brattin recorded two catches for 14 yards.

Jeremy Vickers was the Comets' leading rush option, picking up 69 yards on 19 carries. Kuhs carried the ball seven times for 14 yards, while Brown picked up the same yardage on four carries. Brattin recorded 22 yards on three carries.

Defensively, James Tucker led with six total tackles, including four solos, all for a loss. Vickers added five total tackles, while Alex Gracia and Evan Dotson each recorded four. Tucker recorded two sacks and Dotson one.

Marionville will look to get back in the win column on Friday, as the Comets host Lockwood with Golden City in their first contest in the Southwest Conference. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
