The Verona Lady Wildcats recorded their fourth win of the season on October 2, with a three-set road victory at Greenfield.
Coach Brad Stewart's team fell 25-21 in the first set but showed its resiliency in the next two, winning 26-24 and 25-17 over the home team.
Stewart called it an "excellent comeback win over a quality opponent," in which the Lady Wildcats' defense and hitting showed strength.
Hailee Wilkinson led the visiting Lady Wildcats with 14 digs and eight kills, while Carolina Castillo added 11 digs and 13 assists. Paige Bauer racked up 11 service points, seven digs, three kills and a block for Verona, while Rita Castillo contributed eight service points, eight digs, six kills and two assists.
Sydney Gamroth added nine service points, eight digs and two kills to the Verona effort, while Ashley Freiburger recorded five digs, one kill and one assist. Kristen Krueger and Hannah Heseman ended the match with a 100 percent service rate each.
The Lady Wildcats followed the win with a 2-0 loss to Miller at home but will look to hit their stride as district play begins next week. Verona is scheduled to face Pierce City at 7 p.m., Monday, at Miller. See the bracket above for more details on the tournament.
