The Aurora Houn' Dawgs struck first and led 7-6 at halftime of the game at Cassville last Friday but were unable to hang on, falling 34-13 in the Big 8 Conference matchup.
A five-yard touchdown run by junior Logan Lauffer put the Dawgs on the board in the first quarter, but Cassville would shorten the lead to 7-6 with a touchdown of its own in the second.
A quick score in the second half by the Wildcats put the home team in the lead, and they held on to pick up the win despite a 39-yard touchdown pass from senior John Dakota Lee to junior Kaden Clark in the third quarter.
Lee finished the game with 310 yards passing on 20 completions, as well as 78 yards on the ground with 17 carries. Clark finished with 70 yards on three catches, behind Lauffer's 71 yards on seven catches and senior Clayton Dunning's 74 yards on five catches. Lauffer also recorded 32 yards rushing on seven carries.
Defensively, the Houn' Dawgs were led by Clark and senior Blake Williams, with 15 total tackles each. Senior Connor Savage also finished with double-figure tackles, recording 14 on the night.
Aurora (4-4) will look to finish the regular season with a winning record overall and in conference play as the Houn' Dawgs host McDonald County (5-3) on Friday for senior night.
