Despite sticking with the Lady Tigers through two sets, the Marionville volleyball team was swept 2-0 by Hollister on Tuesday evening, 25-17 and 25-20.

Marionville scored the first point of the match as Hollister hit the ball out of bounds, but the Lady Tigers evened the score and took the lead on the next two plays. The Lady Comets could not regain the lead but kept the match close despite a strong attacking game from Hollister.

A pair of kills by sophomore Morgan Barrickman and tip plays by junior Madysen Barber got the home team within four points of the lead at 20-16, but the Lady Tigers held on and only allowed Marionville one more point for the 25-17 set victory.

The second set began as more of a closely-contested one, as Barrickman and junior Madylon Davis scored important points to keep the Lady Comets in the lead or tied. But an injury to Barrickman's knee killed the Marionville momentum and left the home team without its biggest outside presence, and Hollister took over the match from there.

Despite Marionville's best efforts -- and getting to within two points of the lead at 19-17 -- the Lady Tigers recorded the 25-20 win for the sweep.

The team will look to improve its record on the road next week, as the Lady Comets travel to Pierce City on Monday, Stockton on Tuesday and Ash Grove on Thursday.
