Aurora junior Matthew Miller homered three times over two games early this week to double the Houn' Dawgs' home run total for the year and lead the team to two more wins and a championship in the Forsyth Tournament.

Miller's home runs raised a total of $300 for Home Runs for Heroes, thanks to donations from Jimmy Michel Motors and Mayse Automotive, who earlier this year committed to donating $50 per Aurora home run.

The Houn' Dawgs rode three straight shutouts to the tournament title after falling 2-0 to Hollister in the opening game. Aurora defeated Galena 11-0 and Gainesville 22-0 before blanking Hollister 10-0 in the championship game.

Miller racked up a total of 11 RBI over the last two games and was credited with the shutout win over Gainesville. Senior Zac Shoemaker was the winning pitcher in the championship game, pitching six shutout innings and striking out 10.

Aurora will enter Class 4, District 11 play at Hollister next week, awaiting the winner of Reeds Spring vs. Mt. Vernon. The top-seeded Dawgs will face the winner of that game at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
