To the Community of Aurora:
Our Come and Dine Community Dinners held at Aurora First Baptist ended Wednesday, August 15. In the eight weeks (20 nights) of the dinner, we served 12,133 meals. Our low night was 485 meals served and our high was 695 meals. We averaged 607 each night.
I want to thank the following seven churches for helping to cook and serve the meals: Engage, Fundamental Methodist, Grace Lutheran, Holy Trinity Catholic, Nazarene, First Presbyterian Church, Orange Presbyterian, as well as Mercy Hospital.
If you add up the volunteers for the 20 nights, there was a total of 784 individuals who helped.
I also want to thank the following businesses, churches and organizations who contributed money or food/supplies for the dinners:Monetary donations -- Aurora Area Community Foundation, Aurora FFA, Arvest Bank, Aurora Professional Pharmacy, Aurora Rotary Club, Benevity Charities, Community National Bank, Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Engage Church, First Independent Bank, First Presbyterian Church, Grace Lutheran, Heller Heat and Air, Holy Trinity Women's Circle, Journagan's Tru Value, Main Street, Mayse Automotive, Mercy Hospital, Modern Variety, Orange Presbyterian Church, Pawnderosa Gun & Pawn, Parkway Central Corporation, South 39 Services and Southside Baptist Church Food/supplies -- American Family Insurance, Bootleggers, First Presbyterian Church, Grace Lutheran, Greater Springfield Farmers Market, Hiland Dairy, Holy Trinity Women's Circle, Nazarene Church, Orange Presbyterian Church, Schreiber Foods, Tyson Foods, Walmart and Wilson Avenue Baptist Church
There were 31 donations from individuals of money and/or items such as lemonade, canned goods, etc.
There were 420 desserts donated from various churches and individuals. If you would count only $8 per dessert, this would total a $3,280 donation.
It takes a lot of work to cook and serve this many meals. Thank you to everyone who had part in any way. A special thanks to the wonderful people at Aurora First Baptist who contributed money, food items and time!
