Lester Floyd Sprague, Jr., age 92, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Aurora Nursing Center. He was born April 2, 1926, in Aurora, Missouri, the son of Lester and Pearl (Woodling) Sprague.

Lester was a 1944 graduate of Aurora High School where he was a member of the football team. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during World War II from October 1944 to July 1946. After returning to Aurora from the service he went to work for Lenhart Photography in Aurora before going to work with his father delivering the Springfield News Leader. After his father retired he purchased the business and continued delivering the papers until his retirement in the early 90’s. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Aurora.

On August 14, 1966, he married Edith Kathleen Oglesby in Aurora. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2015. Lester is survived by several nieces and nephews. His parents, Lester and Pearl, wife, Edith, sister, Ruth Keene, and two brothers, Dean and Jack Sprague, preceded him in death.

A graveside service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.
