Ike McRoberts, age 76, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 3:19 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born September 27, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Mac and Virginia (Robertson) McRoberts.
Ike was a 1959 graduate of Verona High School and was a United States Navy Veteran serving on the Hancock Aircraft Carrier. He was the owner of Parkway Hardware and Central Sheet Metal in Aurora. He was very active serving on the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Aurora Main Street, Lions Club, Jaycees and Aurora Airport Board for many years.
Ike is survived by Jan Spring; one daughter, Valerie Linger, of Blue Springs, Missouri; one son, Brian McRoberts and his wife, Sue, of West Lafayette, Indiana; four grandchildren, Sammy, Kati, Andrew and Bennett; three sisters, Sharon Bandy and her husband, Kenneth, of Monett, Kay Greenway and her husband, Ron, of Overland Park, Kansas and Vicki Williams and her husband, David, of Battlefield; two brothers, Bob McRoberts of Springfield and Michael McRoberts and his wife, Nancy, of Hendersonville, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, Mac and Virginia, preceded him in death.
A celebration of Ike’s life will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora. Burial will be at a later date at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Main Street Aurora for the Christmas Light Project, which Ike had been instrumental in supporting for over 25 years. Donations can be left at the funeral home or dropped off at Parkway Hardware in downtown Aurora.
