Opal Mae Thomas, age 94, of Aurora passed away at 4:00 a.m., Oct. 29, 2017, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center in Mt. Vernon, MO.

She was born August 3, 1923 in Stone County, the daughter of Riley and Roseann Maples. Opal worked and retired from MRC in Mt. Vernon, MO. She married Oliver Thomas and they were married fifty years. He preceded her in death in 1992.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Pendleton and husband, Tom of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Rick Thomas of Branson, MO., Doug Thomas of Aurora and David Thomas and wife, Christy of Aurora, and a daughter-in-law Norma Thomas of Aurora; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Our mother has been blessed. She was a "great" grandmother and enjoyed them so much and will be greatly missed.

Her father and mother, Riley and Roseann, her husband Oliver and two sons, Ron and Jim preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aurora Baptist Temple under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Clever.

Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the church.
