Fern Marie (Keener) Hood of Marionville was born April 2, 1924 in Crane, MO. to Edward E. Keener and Grace B. (Salkill) Keener went to be with our Lord on September 26, 2017 at the age of 93.
On October 9, 1938 she was united in marriage to Joseph Paul Hood who preceded her in death on August 5, 1994. To this union three children were born, Rosezetta M. Massengill, S. Paul Hood and Jimmy E. Hood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; one daughter; seven brothers, Dennis Ervin, J.W. Ervie, Darrell, Thurman, Danny and Robert; and four sisters, Edna, Barbara, Rosella and Betty.
Fern is survived by one son, Jimmy Hood and wife, Donna of Marionville; one daughter-in-law, Lawanna Hood of Clever; one sister, Helen Cravens of Union City; one brother, Dwight Keener and wife, Shirley of Crane; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
For several years Fern was employed by Goodnow Garment Factory in Crane, MO. She loved gardening, she loved her flowers, canning and cooking for family. She made the best fried chicken. She attended Union Grove Church in Aurora where she was known for her banana pudding. Every dinner she asked what to bring and everyone said "Banana Pudding". She will be missed by family and friends alike. Rest in Peace "Granny".
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Marionvlle Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
