Carolyn Jean Cook, age 87, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2107, at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born May 11, 1930, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Nicholas and Esther (Anderson) Wagner.
Carolyn was a 1948 graduate of Springfield High School. She was a dental assistant for Dr. Ray Asay, in Aurora, and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Aurora.
On March 8, 1947, she married Edwin Marion Cook, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1989.
She is survived by her daughter, Sis Ann Broyles and her husband, Dan, of Aurora; three sons, Chris Cook and his wife, Betsy, of San Diego, California, Curt Cook and his wife, Lori, of Republic, Missouri and Fernando Serrano and his partner, Kim Smith, of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, Addie Broyles, Chelsea Barrett and her husband, Kenny, Nick Cook, Nathan Cook and his wife, Anna, and Christian Cook; four great-grandchildren, Julian, Avery, June and Nash; one brother, Jack Wagner of Arlington, Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Nicholas and Esther, and her husband, Edwin, preceded her in death.
A memorial service was held on Friday, September 15, 2017, at the United Methodist Church of Aurora. A private burial followed at the Maple Park Cemetery, in Aurora.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made payable to the United Methodist Church of Aurora or the Ed Cook Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home.
