A deputy from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the Miller Police Department and the Department of Family Services responded to 619 East Main in Miller in reference to a call to check the well-being of juvenile children residing at that residence earlier this month.
During their investigation, a large amount of designer drug packages were found throughout the home, along with a small amount of suspected marijuana and marijuana seeds. Also seized was a large amount of drug paraphernalia and plant cultivation material. Four adults and one juvenile child were home when officers arrived.
Officials have sent the material to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for analysis. Investigation continues and formal charges are pending for those individuals involved.
In August 2011, all forms of synthetic marijuana were banned in Missouri. The products are often sold in packaging that says they do not contained banned ingredients and, in some cases, that they are not intended for human consumption.
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office has a toll free number, 1-888-635-8477 (TIPS), through the Barry-Lawrence Crime Stoppers or through email at www.lawrencecosheriff.com.  All callers can remain anonymous.

Sheriff Brad DeLay released  statistics for the officer hired through funds from the Missouri Sheriff’s Methamphetamine Relief Team (MoSMART) for the months of July through December 2011.
The position for this officer was grant-funded, however, the funding for this grant was not reallocated for any agency in Missouri. DeLay made a request to add the position into the county budget, but that request was also denied. Currently, the sheriff is actively seeking funding to bring the position back.
Statistics for that time frame include:
• meth labs seized - 10
• chemical/glassware/
equipment seized - 1
• clandestine lab dumpsites - 5
• arrests for manufacturing methamphetamine - 12
• arrests for attempting to manufacture methamphetamine - 2
• arrests for distribution of methamphetamine - 6
• arrests for possession of methamphetamine - 22
