Mt. Olive UMC is ready to go again

Mt. Olive United Methodist Church burned on May 7, 2008, following an apparent lightening strike. Several area fire departments worked to fight the blaze and save the structure. Members of the congregation will celebrate the rededication of the newly restored facility with an open house on Sunday and a service of rededication on Sunday. The community is invited to participate.

Members of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church near Marionville are inviting the public to a celebration of rededication on May 2 and 3.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on May 2, the congregation will host an open house. Refreshments will be available.

The service of rededication will begin at 10 a.m., May 3. This will be a joint service with a sister church, Billings United Methodist Church.

On May 7, 2008, Mt. Olive was damaged by fire after a lightning strike. The church has undergone extensive restoration. The ceiling, roof, drywall and part of the south wall have been replaced.

Closets and a new heat and air system have been added. The church has new flooring, paint and furniture.

The congregation thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers throughout the restoration, said a spokesman. Members  hope their many friends will join them on one or both days in praise and thanksgiving as they rededicate their church.

Mt. Olive is located at 15668 Highway 14, three miles north of Marionville or six miles west of Billings.
