The Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) Neighborhood Center in Lawrence County will host a community garden planning meeting at 3 p.m., Monday, January 11.

The public is invited to attend the meeting at the Neighborhood Center, which is located at 101 East Olive in Aurora.

The planning session is for network partners to learn more about the vision and projected results of the Community Garden project. The outcome is for low-income families to have an opportunity to participate in a community garden project to plant and harvest crops, use the crops grown to feed themselves and their families and, if they choose, supplement their income by selling produce in a local farmers market.

Topics to be discussed include: what type of garden to create, how will space be divided or shared, what are the resources needed for the garden, how much time will be required and who will be willing to volunteer on a leadership team.

This class is open to the public, but pre-registration is preferred.  For more information or to reserve your spot, call Judy Williams at 417-678-5031.
