Lawrence County Clerk Gary Emerson has provided a list of people who have filed as candidates for various offices up for election in August.
The candidates include:
• County Clerk -- Gary Emerson, Republican
• Presiding Commissioner -- Sam Goodman, Republican
• Recorder of Deeds -- Pam Robertson, Republican
• Collector of Revenue (term begins March 1, 2011) -- Kelli McVey, Republican
• Prosecuting Attorney -- Don Trotter, Republican, and Stacy Tomlin, Republican
• Associate Circuit Judge, Division I -- Scott Sifferman, Republican
• Associate Circuit Judge, Division II -- Robert E. “Bob” George, Republican
• Circuit Clerk -- Steven W. Kahre, Republican
• Treasurer -- Sharon Kleine, Republican
• Republican Committee Candidates -- Southeast Aurora, Steven W. The filing period ends at 5 p.m., March 30. Those desiring to file for an office may do so in the county clerks office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., each week day.
In order to file, candidates must have a voter identification card or knowledge of the voting precinct and township where they are registered, a reliable form of identification such as a Missouri driver’s license, and their filing fee of $50 or receipt from their political party showing the fee paid.
Candidates are required to file a Candidate’s Affidavit of Tax Payments prior to filing for county office. The form is available in Emerson’s office or online at http://dor.mo.gov/tax/candidates/.
At the time of filing, the candidate must present a copy of a completed and notarized affidavit. Candidates are not eligible to file for county office until they provide a copy of the completed and notarized affidavit.
