Earlier this month, the Aurora High School FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) held a “Financial Fitness for a Lifetime” workshop in the family life center at Aurora Baptist Temple.
The speaker of this event was David Lankford, a retired member of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry Education Department.
Schools from all around District V in attendance included Billings, Cassville, Clever, Crane, Exeter, Hurley, Monett, Mt. Vernon, Pierce City, Purdy, Southwest, Verona and Wheaton high schools.
Local business leaders in attendance as table leaders were John Lee, Community National Bank; Jason Whitesell, First Independent Bank; and Debbie Weathermon, Regions Bank. In addition, other table leaders were in attendance from the surrounding district.
Aurora FBLA members planned the entire event, including making and serving the foods and beverages.
Patric Pettegrew, adviser for the local FBLA, expressed appreciation to all of the students who helped with the planning, set up, participation in the event and/or helped with the clean up.
He also thanked to the following banks for their sponsorship: Community National Bank, First Independent Bank, Regions Bank and Great Southern Bank. Likewise, he thanked McDonalds and Pizza Hut for providing meals for the speaker.
