Significant Incidents
During a routine search at Aurora High School on December 3, school officials located a vehicle in the parking lot that had a rifle in the center console area. Detectives from the Aurora Police Department responded to the scene. School officials are in the process of handling the incident. Investigation revealed the individual who brought the rifle onto school property was not going to use it in any malicious actions.
On December 3, officers were dispatched to the Skate Park. Officers had received a description of a suspect who was painting on the skate ramp. Officers located a 12-year-old juvenile with a paint can and paint on his hands. The juvenile had painted on the skate ramp and the walkway bridge. The officers contacted a juvenile officer who responded to the police department. The juvenile stated he had received peer pressure to paint at the park. The juvenile will be responsible for removing the paint at the skate park and on the walkway bridge.
On December 2, a Ford Ranger pickup was stolen while parked at a local school overnight. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside. Local detectives recovered the vehicle in Chesapeake within 12 hours of the incident. The vehicle was undamaged and has been returned to its owner.
On December 3, a burglary occurred in the 300 block of East Cofield. A Fender Stratocaster guitar was taken from inside the residence. Aurora detectives recovered the stolen guitar and returned it to its owner. A suspect has been located and charges are pending.
