The night of February 2-3, officers investigated break-ins at three local businesses: Davis Cellular, Perfect Images and XTC. Two cash drawers, containing a small amount of cash, were taken from Davis Cellular. No property was taken from the other two businesses.
Jorge Perez-Salas was arrested and charged with domestic assault and armed criminal action. He was also determined to be an illegal alien. ICE was apprised of the matter.
Chance Brown was arrested on an Aurora warrant for failure to appear, original charge of resisting arrest, and on a Van Zandt County, Texas, warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
A fugitive warrant was obtained, and he was released to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department for extradition to Texas after appearing in court to answer the Aurora charge.
On February 5, Aurora officers were requested to provide traffic control for the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol on Highway 60 at Lawrence 1160 for a traffic accident. A semi truck had hit 11 head of cattle. Nine of the cattle died at the scene.
