Area teams look ahead to districts

Teams from Marionville and Verona prepare for the first round of district play in their respective tournaments.
Marionville Lady Comets
The Lady Comets travel to Sarcoxie for the Girls Class 2 District 10 Tournament on February 27-March 5.
Marionville, seeded ninth, will face Wheaton, seeded eighth, at 2 p.m., February 27.
If the Lady Comets win, they will face Purdy, seeded first, at 4 p.m., March 1. If Marionville loses, its season is finished for the 2009-10 year.
Other teams in the tournament are: Greenfield, seeded fourth; Jasper, seeded fifth; Miller, seeded second; Sarcoxie, seeded seventh; College Heights, seeded third; and McAuley, seeded sixth.
The tournament’s championship game will begin at 7 p.m., March 5.
The winner of District 10 will face the winner of District 9 in sectionals on March 10. Game time is 6 p.m., at Republic High School.
Marionville Comets
Marionville Comets, seeded second, face McAuley, seeded seventh, at 7 p.m., March 2, at Sarcoxie High School.
If the Comets win, they will play in the semifinal round of the Boys Class 2 District 10 Tournament at 7:30 p.m., March 4.
If they lose, the Comets will finish their basketball season.
Other teams in the tournament are: Miller, seeded first; Sarcoxie, seeded eighth; College Heights, seeded ninth; Jasper, seeded fourth; Wheaton, seeded fifth; Greenfield, seeded third; and Purdy, seeded sixth.
The championship game will begin at 7 p.m., March 6.
The winner of the Class 2 District 10 Tournament will go on to face the winner of the Class 2 District 9 Tournament at 7:45 p.m., March 10.
Verona Wildcats
The Verona Wildcats, seeded seventh, travel to Aurora for the Class 1 District 6 Tournament March 2-5.
The Wildcats first face Niangua, seeded second, at 6 p.m., March 2, at the Aurora High School in the first round.
If Verona wins, it will again play at 7:30 p.m, March 4, and will face the winner of the game between Chadwick, seeded third, and Everton, seeded sixth.
Other teams in the tournament are: Hurley, seeded first; Walnut Grove, seeded fourth; and Exeter, seeded fifth.
The championship game will begin at 7:30 p.m., March 5.
The winner of the District 6 Tournament will play the winner of the District 5 Tournament at 7:45 p.m., March 9, at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar.
Verona Lady Wildcats
The Lady Wildcats gained the first seed in the Class 1 District 6 Tournament, which allowed them to have a bye in the first round of the tournament.
Verona will face the winner of the game between Chadwick, seeded fourth, and Everton, seeded fifth, at 6 p.m., March 3.
The championship game of the tournament will be at 6 p.m., March 5.
The champs of the Class 1 District 6 Tournament will play at 6 p.m., March 9, at SBU.
