The Aurora R-VIII School District, in partnership with the Aurora Area Community Foundation, has been selected as one of 25 participants in the Harry Cooper Supply Company Campaign for the Ozarks Phase Two Challenge Grant program.
This program will provide a $10,000 matching grant for $20,000 raised for an academic-oriented endowment fund.
It started January 1 and will run through December 31.
“We’re thrilled to have Aurora Schools join this elite group as they embark on the mission of providing an academic fund for their community which will benefit students for years to come,” says Gary Funk, president of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
Phase Two of the challenge grant program comes on the heels of the successful Harry Cooper Supply Company Campaign for the Ozarks in 2008 which resulted in $2.2 million in endowment funds for 37 southern Missouri communities. This regional effort allows local community foundations to provide needed grant dollars.
The Aurora Area Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. Both organizations support asset development, community-based grant making, organizational collaboration, and leadership initiatives throughout southern Missouri.  CFO is comprised of 41 affiliate community foundations and more than 1,600 charitable funds totaling approximately $140 million.
