Frederick A Ulam, Ph.D., has joined Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon as a new member of the psychology staff. Board certified in psychology, Ulam will be specializing as a neuropsychologist treating patients with traumatic brain injuries.
“We are so excited to have Dr. Ulam on staff in neuropsychology,” said MRC Executive Director Steve Patterson.
“His experience will not only bring us new knowledge, but will also generate future successes within our nationally recognized traumatic brain injury rehabilitation program.”
Dr. Ulam earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Fresno Pacific University in 1980, an master of arts degree in clinical psychology from California School of Professional Psychology in 1983 and a Ph.D. from California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno in 1991.
During his 30-year career, Dr. Ulam has worked as an adjunct faculty member at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield and a neuropsychologist at Neuropyschological Associates of Southwest Missouri and Cox Health Systems in Springfield, as well as numerous other rehabilitation facilities in California.
His training includes an internship in rehabilitation psychology and pre-doctoral work as a psychology assistant in neurological retraining and neuropsychology at Leon S. Peters Rehabilitation Center in Fresno.
More recently he has been in private practice in Springfield. In addition to Dr. Ulam’s professional work experience, he has extensive experience in research and presentations. Ulam’s work has also been published in several trade journals.
“There is so much we can do to help while serving the need of traumatic brain injury patients,” Ulam said. “I am very excited to start seeing patients in the traumatic brain injury unit.”
