Another class of graduates from Marionville High School crossed the stage for the last time on May 11, as 39 students received diplomas at the commencement ceremony.
With the band playing the traditional processional music, the graduates entered two at a time, posing for unique photos together. Once all were seated, Superintendent Dr. Larry Brown introduced this year's salutatorian, Emily Geisendorfer.
Geisendorfer received her salutatorian plaque and addressed her classmates and the audience, providing insight gained from four years of high school and thanking those who helped her along the way.
Valedictorian Tori LaSalle also spoke to the class after receiving her plaque from principal Mak Estep. Fighting the nerves from speaking in front of a large audience of family, friends, classmates and other guests, LaSalle gave heartfelt thanks to her support system and encouraged her classmates as they move on from high school.
Following the speeches, high school counselor Ashley Finley recognized the students graduating with honors in the cum laude system, then announced the scholarships won by each of the students.
