The girls of Gamma Gamma Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi closed out summer with an ice cream social, a viewing of “Joseph & the Technicolor Dream Coat” at Monett PAC and a program about the great Total Solar Eclipse.
September brought a silent auction at our meeting to raise funds for our yearly scholarship. Our program that evening was presented by photographer Steve Snyder sharing his recent project “The Freedom Endeavor.” He takes a picture of a local veteran holding a picture of him/herself in military uniform. The large photographs also have a brief summary of where the person served and how it has affected life after service. His works will soon be on display at the MARC in Mt. Vernon and other galleries to increase awareness of just who our veterans are.
October saw several members attending Maggie Mae’s “Girls Night Out” in Miller. The annual hayride was held at Brent and Judy Kitchen’s place in Mt. Vernon, complete with dinner and games. Linda Tinker hosted the group at her home for a soup luncheon, with delicious food and lots of good conversation. Thursday lunches out continue at local restaurants. An outing to Monett PAC to see the Ozark Festival Orchestra perform closed out the month; the patriotic program was excellent and very moving.
