Management at Dexter Solutions informed its Aurora employees last week that the business's location at 107 South Washington will be closing around the beginning of December. The transfer of work from the Aurora site to other locations began immediately and is expected to take approximately 60 days.
"From its beginnings as MWM Color Press in the mid 1920's through to today, our Aurora, MO, facility has been a key contributor to Dexter religious and hospitality operations and the Aurora community for many generations," said Rebecca Ball, senior director of marketing. "It has seen many changes in the print industry and people over the years. And the Aurora team, both past and current, has maintained a high level of manufacturing operations through it all."
The company cited the need to look forward and consider customers' needs as reasons for the change, but the importance of the Aurora location's work over the years will be remembered.
"As a company, we do not ever want to forget the legacy of this location and how it fits into our history and who we are today," said Ball. "We know this decision has a life-changing impact on the people in our Aurora facility. We are working with them to identify opportunities at our other locations and in their area."
With the closing of the Aurora office, the company will operate with four locations, including two in Springfield.
