The 38th annual Homer Sloan Buddy Bass Tournament will be held in Shell Knob on Saturday. October 7. This fun tournament is the longest running, continuously held bass tournament on the lake. It is sponsored by the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce to support the Shell Knob Community. Anglers are invited to register for the event by picking up an entry form at area businesses or downloading the form from www.shellknob.com.
The tournament will take place at Campbell Point Marina. Take-off is scheduled for 7:30 am with the weigh-in at 4 pm. The entry fee is $100 for each two person team. Cash prizes will be awarded for most weight for the top five finishers. An optional big bass pot with a 100 percent payout for four places can be entered for $20 per team. The first 100 entrants will receive a free hat. Following the weigh-in, all entered anglers will receive a free meal at the awards ceremony at Shell Knob Chamber Park. An optional pre-tournament will be held at Viola from 7:30 to 12 on Friday morning, October 6.
The tournament was first held in 1980 and named in honor of Homer Sloan, one of the original organizers. Over the years, the event has earned a reputation as a quality, well-run tournament and continues to provide a fun day of competitive fishing.
Fishing has been excellent on Table Rock this year for quality largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass. The weather is beginning to cool and fish are moving up and feeding. Pick a buddy and sign up for the Homer Sloan tournament for another great day on the lake in Shell Knob.
