Fifteen students from Scott Regional Technology Center’s chapter of DECA took a educational field trip on September 6 to Springfield, where they watched local entrepreneurs make pitches in “Shark Tank” style with the 1 Million Cups Organization and toured a food service advertising agency called Deep.

The 1 Millions Cups pitches were made by Calibrate Marketing, a digital marketing agency and Sculpture Walk Springfield, an outdoor “art museum” at Deep ad agency. Students learned about the different types of jobs in advertising, what the day-to-day life is like in the agency business, as well as the type of work they do.

Overall, the students were provided the opportunity to explore a variety of the careers in the marketing field, as well as receive information on how to become successful in the field.

As Cerinna Rothlisberger of Pierce City stated, “I learned a lot throughout this field trip and I am excited to see what the rest of this year in Marketing holds for each student.”
