After the resignation of city manager Mike Randall, the Aurora city council has hired Jon Holmes to fill the role for the city. This week was Holmes' first full week on the job, as he began officially on September 1.
Holmes has many years of experience in city administration across several states, most recently as the county administrator for Franklin County, Kansas.
The new city manager graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a master's degree in public administration and holds a bachelor's degree in social science.
Holmes said he brings to the job an open-door policy for citizens and city employees and experience in budget and financial planning for long-term capital improvement plans.
He said he takes seriously his accountability to the city council and is looking forward to helping the council achieve its vision for the city.
