Citizens of Aurora, Marionville and Verona continued to file for candidacy in upcoming elections for city council and school boards. The final day to file is Friday, January 13.

Candidates filing for positions and those whose positions are expiring are listed below.


City council -- Current members Rosemary Henderson and Linda Barton have filed for reelection, as their seats are expiring. Also filing for candidacy were Lisa Rentfro and Stephen Wiles.

School board -- The seats currently occupied by Scott Welch, Grant Baker and Mark McCully will be up for grabs. Welch and Baker have filed for reelction. Also on the ballot will be Brenda Ash and Michael Singer.


Board of aldermen -- Current aldermen George Jennings (Ward I) and Donna White (Ward II) have filed for reelection. David Arnsmeyer will also be on the ballot for Ward I.

School board -- Three school board seats will be open at the end of the term, namely those of Kay Kerans, Jacquie Mais and Brad Wilson. Wilson is thus far the only candidate to have filed.


Board of aldermen -- The two-year positions of mayor and aldermen at large (two) will expire, leaving room for candidates to file. The lone candidate as of press time remains to be Joseph Heck, who has filed for mayor.

School board -- Louis Carrasquillo, Abe Sherwood and Mary Hesemann have filed to be on the ballot for the Verona school board election.
