The Osage Beach Fire Protection District responded to a report of a deck fire yesterday afternoon in Osage Beach; no injuries were reported, according to a press release from OBFPD.

Firefighters were en route to the scene around 10:55 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016, on a report of a deck fire at Ledges Condominiums off Ledges Dr. in Osage Beach.

Units arrived on the scene to find an exterior deck on fire on the 3rd floor of the complex; firefighters advanced a line to the rear deck and extinguished the fire. Due to extent of damage management and occupants of these four units were advised not to utilize the decks, according to the press release.

After investigation the fire is believed to have been caused by use of an insect repellent stake that was placed in between the decking in a fourth floor unit. These stakes are similar to incense sticks and it is believed an ember from this fell between the decking into a concealed area between the units decks.

Osage Beach had 10 firefighters on the scene and had the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival, no injuries of occupants or firefighters. All fire department personnel cleared the scene 1:45 p.m.
