A $65,000 question headlined the front page of The Moberly Monitor-Index a year ago today. The question was whether the city should shell out $65,000 to construct a new road leading to the Moberly Animal Shelter.
The idea had been suggested to the Moberly City Council, and council members weighed and discussed the issue in the Monitor-Index article by then-reporter Atina Roberts.
Also on the front page on Sept. 1, 2015, was coverage of a recent movie night and fundraiser at the 4th Street Theatre in downtown Moberly. The theater had shown “Operation Petticoat,” and the fundraising event drew a crowd of almost 300, according to Monitor-Index reporting at the time.
In other news a year ago today, J.W. Ballinger, of the Randolph County Historical Society, had submitted another Moberly history article as part of the RCHS' “Trip through time” series leading up to Moberly's sesquicentennial celebration.
