On Aug. 29, 2013, the front page of The Moberly Monitor-Index featured news about the local bowling alley.

The alley, which had previously been called Community Lanes, had changed its name to Memory Lanes. Along with the changed name came a change in ownership and the alley's smoking policy — the bowling alley was now smoke-free.

In other news three years ago today, Moberly Area Community College was using $118,000 in iPad purchases to not only benefit students, but also to offer free public computer training at five of its campus locations.

Also on the front page was news that Jeffrey Nichols, one of the men accused of murdering a 92-year-old Moberly woman, had decided to move his trial outside of Randolph County, to Marion County.

Another front-page article looked at several upcoming events at the Moberly Little Dixie Regional Library, including a visit from an author.
